The well-known specialty food and product destination in Chapel Hill, A Southern Season, recently filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection, an article of The News & Observer reported on June 24. The operators plan to restructure their business to help mitigate financial losses from their stores.
According to reports, the company will close some of their larger stores and stop construction plans for new ones. In the meantime, A Southern Season will focus on improving its small branches, A Taste of Southern Season. The flagship store in Chapel Hill will remain open to the public. A Southern Season chief financial officer Brian Fauver said that 317 full-time and part-time employees would stay on to staff their four remaining branches.
