Canadian smartphone maker Blackberry Ltd. recently said it was considering selling the company or taking another similar action in order to resolve its financial troubles, a report from the New York Times on Monday, August 12 stated.

According to a report last week by the International Data Corporation (IDC), BlackBerry ranked only fourth in the global market even thought it has recently released new phones. A recent report also said the troubled smartphone company was considering collaborating with Silver Lake Partners.

In the last five years, shares of the company, which was once known as Research in Motion, dropped 92 percent.
