As a result of the $37 billion national settlement with the five biggest mortgage providers, nearly 21,000 North Carolina homeowners will receive settlement checks this month, Attorney General Roy Cooper said on June 4.
A check amounting to around $1,480 will be mailed to homeowners who filed a valid foreclosure claim from June 10 until June 17. Those who qualified for these settlement checks include consumers who had their home foreclosed on between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2011 and had their mortgage serviced by Ally, Bank of America Corp., Citibank, JPMorgan Chase & Co., or Wells Fargo & Co.
At the national level there are about 962,278 qualified consumers who will receive settlement checks.
